My faithful sentra has seen its last day on the road and I am without a vehicle. With a newborn baby and being a commercial fisherman this time of year money is tight. I can buy this GMC suburban for 500. 170k miles. Front end a little pushed in and back bumber rotted out. Interior ok. Transmission is leaking at the bellhousing and without checking it out in person closely my guess is front seal?

$500?
This shouldn’t be a question.
Thats an old school rig. It’s ready for work. Yes, you will need to put money into it over time. It will bleed fluids too. If you need motivation right now? That thing will run like crap longer than most CL finds.

Looks like a 4x4, too. It gets my vote!

$500 for a Suburban that runs and drives?
Is this even a question?

You would be dumb not to buy it. Just keep a rag, a funnel, and various spare fluids in the truck at all times and check them at least weekly.

Needs a new windshield too. Talked him down to 400. The kid doesn’t know trucks. Like I said he says tranny leaks from bellhousing but when I saw it in person the tranny was full so that’s why I’m thinking front pump seal or something. Worst case I’ll swap a junkyard tranny in.

Go for it.
They’re easy to work on as well, so you shouldn’t really have any issues.

Check all the brake and fuel lines, an exploding brake line is what did mine in. The whole truck likes to rust massively. Also the Spider Injection system sucks and has a tendency of misfiring, if you replace that be prepared to do the upper and lower intake mani gaskets as well. I had the exact same truck till it it lost brakes through an intersection.

GMT400 Burban with 4WD for $400?
As long as there isn’t a questionable frame (i.e. rust) or brake lines, the answer is yes.

Yes. As long as there isn't rust that could jeopardize the structural integrity, that is quite the deal. Does this have the 5.7l 350? Those engines in these trucks are 12 valve cummins level reliable.
